We're excited to Kick off our 100th Anniversary year a little early as we brew the FIRST beer in our Limited Edition Beer Series, “Kegel Brau.”
True Confessions:My Grandma Was a Criminal
When Kegel’s Inn first opened in 1924 prohibition was in full swing and Great Grandma (Anna Kegel) was an entrepreneur! While Great Grandpa (John Kegel Sr.) opened “Kegel’s Place” as a “soda-pop parlor” in the East half of what today is Kegel’s Inn; Great Grandma was in the basement brewing something little stronger!
In honor of the 100th Year Celebration of Kegel’s Inn we’re partnering with our friends at MobCraft and brewing up a Barrel-Aged German-style Doppelbock. We’re brewing it now so that the beer can age for 9 months, and be ready to enjoy in December 2024. Everyone on the tour will get to pick-up their own 4-pack of “My Grandma Was a Criminal” at the release party in December of 2024. Each ticket purchased will also serve as an entry to win a Party in a Yurt for 10. (More info here.)
Join us Friday, December 15th 3-5 pm as we brew “True Confessions: My Grandma Was a Criminal” at Kegel Brau, Brew Day with MobCraft. This will be the first of our Limited Edition Beer Series, “Kegel Brau”, which commemorates 100 years of Kegel’s Inn, serving Milwaukee’s favorite German-style food & beer (no longer a crime!). Hear from 4th generation owner, Julian Kegel, about the history of Kegel’s Inn as a speakeasy and gathering place for all of Milwaukee.
